How often do I need to regenerate the WaterStick Portable Water Softener?
The regeneration interval depends on how hard the water is where you are using it and how much water you use per use. We suggest you purchase a "Hard Water Test Kit" with your WaterStick so you can test the water to determine when you will need to regenerate with your water hardness and usage.
How do I regenerate the WaterStick Portable Water Softener?
PORTABLE WATER SOFTENER:
1. Mix 2 cups (16 oz.) Plain table salt with ½ gallon of water in a plastic bottle (a 2 liter Soft Drink bottle works great just add salt to the bottom of the label).
2. Disconnect attached hoses and drain any water remaining in your WATERSTICK. If necesary hold vertically and blow thru top end until only air comes out the bottom connection and shake all the resin inside to the bottom so that you will be able to pour the entire contents of the salt solution into the WATERSTICK resin chamber for complete regeneration.
3. Install the cap (provided) on the outlet male hose fitting and pour all the salt solution into the WATERSTICK thru the other end.
4. Install the plug (provided) in the other end and shake the WATERSTICK to mix the salt solution with the resin beads, and then store the WATERSTICK for at least ½ hour or until the next use.
5. Remove the cap and plug to drain out the salt solution (reinstall the "Chlorine Filter" if purchased, attach the inlet hose and flush with water for 15 seconds to remove the salt solution. ***IMPORTANT*** Be sure to shake the resin inside to the exit end of the WATERSTICK for best results
Always store your Water Stick with the plug and cap on the ends to prevent the resin inside from drying out which will shorten its life.
MINI WATER SOFTENER (1/4th the size of the Portable Water Softener):
1. Mix 4 oz. plain table salt (or POTASSIUM CHLORIDE for persons on a low sodium diet) with 16 oz. water in a plastic bottle (16 oz. soft drink or Mineral Water bottles work great).
2. Drain any water remaining in your MINI WATERSTICK. If necessary hold vertically and blow thru top end until only air comes out the bottom connection and shake all the resin inside to the bottom so that you will be able to pour the entire contents of the salt solution into the resin chamber for complete regeneration.
3. Install a cap or plug (provided) on the bottom end of the MINI WATERSTICK and then pour all the salt solution into the MINI WATERSTICK.
4. Install the cap or plug (provided) and shake for 10 seconds, then store the MINI WATERSTICK at least 1/2 hours or until the next use.
5. Flush with water for 15 seconds to remove the salt solution before re using.
How many gallons of water will the WaterStick Portable Water softener make?
The number of gallons depends on the water hardness in the area it is being used. Please view on the chart below to determine the approximate water hardness in your area then refer to the chart below it to determine the number of gallons of soft water you can expect:

Can I use the WaterStick Portable Water Softener with a pressure washer?
Yes, as long as your pressure washer does not require more than 4.5 to 5.0 GPM of water.
Can I use the WaterStick Portable Water Softener for my carpet cleaning business?
Yes, almost all commercial carpet cleaning machine manufacturers require that you use soft water in their machines or their warranty is void.
