FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How long does the ShowerStick last before you have to regenerate?
Beacuse water hardness varies greatly through out the United States and
the world we cannot answer you question with any accuracy because we don't
know how hard your water is or how much water you will use per shower. I
can tell you that my wife & I have 6 grains of water hardness and we go
for about one month between regererating. The regeneration of the ShowerStick
is very easy and takes less than 1 minute with less than 10 cents worth
of common table salt.
Can I use my old shower head with the ShowerStick?
Yes, you can purchase a "shower pipe diverter" form Lowe's or Home Depot
(about $10.00). It installs on the end of your shower pipe and allows you
to attach your old shower head and the ShowerStick bracket off to one side.
This allows you to shower with regular hard water and then switch to soft
water for the final rinse. You only need to get the hard water minerals
off your body and hair before they dry on your skin and scalp.
How often does the resin in the ShowerStick need to be replaced?
The resin in your ShowerStick should last 15 to 30 years so it really
never needs to be replaced.
How often does the KDF Chlorine Filter need to be replaced?
You need to replace the KDF Chlorine Filter annually under nornal use
(2 people showering daily). The KDF Filter is not regenerated, it needs
to be replaced annually or if you begin to smell chlorine. It has nothing
to do with softening the water only removing the chlorine, sulfer, heavy
metals, dirt & sediment. It then pH balances the water.
Can I purchasr a ShowerStick without the KDF Filter?
The KDF Chlorine Filter is an intrigal part of the ShowerStick and must
be installed to prevent reins loss due to backflow of the resin back into
your home water system.
How do I regenerate my ShowerStick?
1. You need to prepare your salt water solution and keep it in your shower
ready for immediate use when your showerstick requires regeneration. Pour
ordinary table salt (ionized or plain) into an empty 1 ltr plastic soda
bottle to a point level with the bottom of the label (8 oz)(there is an
indentation in the plastic bottle there so it is OK to remove the label).
Next you fill the bottle with tap water and shake to dissolve the salt.
2. When it's time to regenerate just remove the hand held shower head from
the bracket and lay in on the shower floor, then remove the 1/2” pvc regeneration
port plug from the top of the showerstick body and allow all the water to
drain out. . 3. Now hang the hand held showerhead back in the bracket and
pour the salt solution into the showerstick through the regeneration port
hole and replace the plug. Do not shower for one hour or more to allow the
regeneration process time to complete. 4. The next time you shower just
turn on the water and by the time it is warm all the salt and minerals will
have been flushed from the showerstick and you will have clean soft water.
This process takes less than one minute once you have done it a couple of
times and it becomes natural to you.
Do KDF Chlorine Filters or Charcoal Filters soften water?
No! They only remove chlorine, heavy metals, sulfer, dirt and sediment.
They do not remove calcium, magnesium, or iron. These are the things that
irritate your skin and dry your skin & scalp the most. They can only
be inexpensively removed with a salt regenerated water softener.
Does the ShowerStick soften the water like a whole house water softener?
Yes, it uses the same resin beads and technology as any salt based water
softener and provides the same quality soft water for your shower as any
softener can and because it also has a KDF Cholrine Filter it removes the
chlorine, lead, sulfer, heavy metals, dirt & sediment. Then it pH balances
the water.
Is the ShowerStick the best shower water softener?
There a 4 big advantages to using the ShowerStick. 1. The KDF Chlorine
Filter is made of a copper & zinc alloy. This enables it to be smaller and
last much longer than a Charcoal Filter. 2. The ShowerStick does not have
to be removed and disassembled to be regenerated. The ShowerStick remains
in place and the regeneration procedure takes less than one minute by removing
the 1/2" plug to add the salt solution. 3. Our system is made of thicker
and stronger Sch 40 PVC plastic for longer life and is practically indestructable.
4. We have a 14 day return policy if you are dissatisified for any reason
and a one year warranty.
Can I purchase a ShowerStick in retail stores?
We only sell wholesale direct to you the customer through this Website
and at a slightly higher price through eBay.
Why does water sometimes leak from the regeneration port plug on
my ShowerStick?
The regeneration port plug is only meant to be hand tight so that no tools
are needed when it is time to regenerate your ShowerStick and so you can
unscrew it by hand. Teflon tape may be added to these threads if desired
to reduce the leakage and as the threads wear in with use the leakage will
be reduced. The water that leaks has not yet been softened and will just
go down the shower drain. We felt a small leak was worth the trade off for
the ease and time saved during the regeneration process and rember it only
leaks into the shower an goes down the drain.
